In detail

Strong in detail

FORMA Strong is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid dermal filler at 24 mg/ml, the middle density of the FORMA range. The gel is cross-linked with BDDE and supplied as a single 1 ml pre-filled glass syringe with four 27G needles; the package insert recommends a 27G or 25G needle. FORMA dermal fillers are cross-linked hyaluronic acid devices made in Italy and placed on the market by Forma S.R.L.S., under an ISO 13485 quality system and ISO 22716 good manufacturing practice. They are medical devices for administration by qualified medical practitioners only.

The balance point of the range. Strong is rated 3 out of 5 for plasticity. It holds its shape more than Light and spreads more than Extra Strong, which is what makes it the most generally useful of the three: firm enough to support a fold that has begun to settle, soft enough not to read as a hard edge in mobile tissue. Areas of the face that move constantly — the perioral region above all — are where that balance matters most.

Where it is placed. Strong is intended for the mid to deep dermis. The indications listed for it are the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lip volume. These are regions where tissue has lost support rather than surface quality, and where the correction sought is restoration of contour rather than smoothing of texture.

Choosing between Light, Strong and Extra Strong. Light sits at 20 mg/ml, plasticity 5/5, in the superficial dermis, with 30G needles. Strong sits at 24 mg/ml, plasticity 3/5, in the mid to deep dermis, with 27G needles. Extra Strong sits at 26 mg/ml, plasticity 2/5, in the deep dermis and supraperiosteal plane, with 25G needles. A practitioner addressing a nasolabial fold or adding volume to the lip body is choosing Strong; one treating fine lines under thin skin is choosing Light.
